Abstract
This experimental study was designed to investigate the effects of Bangpoongtongsungsan on the weight and lipid metabolism in obese rats induced by high fat diet. A series of experiments have been conducted in order to measure the effects of the
above
medical preparation on the weight, organs and serum. The measurement has been performed on (1) the weight of liver, spleen, kidneys and epididymal fat pads; (2) the quantity of total cholesterol, triglyceride, free fatty acid, phospholipid,
HDL-cholesterol, total protein, total lipid, GOT-GPT in seum; and (3) changes of the fat accumulation and glycogen content in hepatic lobule.
@ES The results are as follows;
@EN 1) It was significantly proved that Bangpoongtongsungsan decreased the weight of obese rats as with the passage of time.
2) It was not shown that Bangpoongtonsungsan had any impact on the weight of liver, spleen or kidneys. Yet in the weight of epididymal fat pads, some significant effect of decreasing was witnessed.
3) Bangpoongtongsungsan significantly inhibited the increase of the quantity of triglyceride, free fatty acid and total lipid in serum.
4) Bangpoongtongsungsan significantly inhibited the increase of the quantity of GOT-GPT in serum.
5) Bangpoongtongsunsan did not significantly affect the quantity of total cholesterol, phosplolipid, HDL-cholesterol or total protein.
6) Bangpoongtongsungsan inhibited the increase of fat accumulation in the hepatic lobule, but did not affect the quantity of glycogen content.
Based on these results, it is concluded that the clinical application of Bangpoongongsungsan can help cure and prevent obesity.
